Issue:

The Backup File or Database (adkad.mdb) is locked due to its Read-Only attribute being set to true.

Summary:

This error is caused by restoring from a backup made to a CD. When making a backup directly from the Database Maintenance screen to a CD most computers will automatically create the backup as read-only. When this backup is restored it remains read-only and therefore when the software tries to access the data the operating system is denying it. Due to this inherent issue, we do not recommend or support making backups to CDs.

Solution:

Step 1:

Exit out of the software.

Step 2:

Click Start|Search. (see Image 1)

Step 3:

Locate the backup file or the adkad.mdb. (see Image 2)

Step 4:

Highlight the file. Once highlighted right-mouse click and select Properties. (see Images 2)

Step 5:

Uncheck the Read-Only attribute and click OK. (see Image 3)
